PPGA Honors Jerry Haas for 25 Years of Service

The Philadelphia Publinks Golf Association recently honored Jerry Haas for 25 years of service and dedication to the organization. Jerry has been a constant with the PPGA over the last quarter century and was presented with a plaque on behalf of the USGA after the final round of the 43rd Annual Philadelphia Better-Ball Championship at Cobbs Creek GC to commemorate his hard work and dedication.

Jerry started volunteering with the PPGA in 1984 as a committeeman and assisted in conducting events for the public golfer. He has played a large part in transforming the PPGA over the years and now all championships are open to all amateur golfers. Jerry has been a stabilizing force throughout his tenure and is in large part responsible for the current direction of the association.

Many of you may know Jerry as the "Horse" and he can be found at the scorer’s table at every event throughout the year. You probably turned in your scorecard to him unaware of his position in the organization and the effect he has had on public golf in the Philadelphia area over the last two and a half decades. Year after year, Jerry sacrifices his own golf game and success as a player for the betterment of the PPGA and so players can enjoy competing in the type of first rate tournaments run by the PPGA.

Today, Jerry serves on the board as the Vice President and continues to be very influential in the direction the PPGA. Jerry works tirelessly behind the scenes and deserves a lot of the credit for the current status of the association.

Next time you see Jerry congratulate him on his service milestone and thank him for all the hard work and time he sacrifices to ensure that the PPGA continues to facilitate first class championships.
