  Final Results
Kimberton, PA - Shawn Lavin survived a four hole playoff to capture the inaugural PPGA Mid-Amatuer Championship at Kimberton GC.  Lavin fired a score of 1-under par 69 which tied him with Mike Harms of Cobbs Creek GC and Jim Gillespie of Wedgwood GC.  Lavin parred all four playoff holes and it was good enough for his first ever PPGA victory.
Mike Harms had the best opportunity to end it early on the second playoff hole when is seven foot birdie putt slid by the left edge.  Harms would be eliminated on the next playoff hole with a bogey and when Lavin hit the green 186 yard par-3 fourth, the pressure was squarely on Gillespie's shoulders.  Gillespie's tee-shot missed the green right and chipped to six feet.  Lavin coaxed his birdie putt to eighteen inches.  When Gillespie's par putt slid over the left edge, Lavin's tap-in sealed the victory.
Harms was the first to post 69 as he was off in the morning wave.  After a front nine that consisted of eight pars and a bogie, Harms Started the back nine with a birdied on ten and followed with birdies on fourteen and fifteen to get it to 2-under for the round.  After bogies and sixteen and seventeen, a birdie at the 344 yard par-4 last capped his round.
Harms was the clubhouse leader for a while until Lavin, starting later in the day, posted his 69 to tie for the lead.  Lavin traded birdies and bogies on the front nine and eventually turned in 1-over.  But Lavin steadied the ship and played mistake free golf on the back nine with birdies on the 465 yard par-4 eleventh and the 365 yard, par-4 thirteenth to go with seven pars.
Gillespie played the front nine in 1-under and was tied for the lead until a double bogey on the 344 yard par-4 twelfth.  He was able to come right back with a birdie on thirteen and and scratched out the tying birdie on the 510 yard, par-5 seventeenth.  Gillespie was faced with a testy par putt on the last to force the three-way playoff and was able to get the five footer to drop.
2010 Philadelphia Publinks Champion and Match Play Cahmpionship medalist, Brian Fisher, of Jeffersonville GC finished fourth two shots back at 71.  Dave Shields, Walnut Lane GC rounded out the top five three strokes back with a round of 72.  Seven time PPGA champion, Buck Jones was alone in sixth at 73.
Ted Nunez, Cobbs Creek GC, won the net division with a score of 67.1.  Ken Hayman, used his home course advantage to finish second while Bill Casey placed third.  Rick Ames of Reding CC finished fourth and 2010 Publinks 60+ Division Steve Owens, Sr. was fifth.
